Responsibilities:
- Uses the Flux Core Arc Welding process to tack weld various small components to round or formed shafts to make a pole assembly for the welder to weld. The pole assembly generally consists of a round tube or formed shaft, baseplate, hand hole, arm mounting simplex, tenon top, vangs, step lugs, ladder clips, and/or other small parts.
- Works in tower shop on individual fitter station to assemble pole assembly. Assist material handler in loading round tube or formed shaft on individual fitter station.
- Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly. Locate and gather Storeroom Personnel staged parts needed for assembly from parts staging area. Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 pounds.
- Reads and interprets drawing to assure proper location of various small part attachments. Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications.
- Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
- Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel. Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts. Wear protective goggles or welding hood to protect eyes from harmful rays.
- Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts.
- Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing. Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face.
- Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures. Changes tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve desired cutting results.
- Uses oxy-fuel torch to preheat parts prior to welding. Read codes and specifications to determine proper temperature and uses instruments provided to measure temperature.
- Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing.
- Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, welding cap, leather sleeves, and/or cape, and welding hood for protection against hot metal, arc rays, grinding debris, and other potentially.
- Uses overhead crane to load finished poles into bolsters for transportation out of the pole assembly area.
- Assist and instructs other welders and fitters when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity.
Requirements:
- 6 months of MIG or Flux Core welding experience required.
- Previous experience using a plasma cutter, torch, large industrial forklift and overhead crane.
- Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the supervisor and his appointed lead person, operates the Ped 60 machine with oxy-fuel and plasma torches to produce pole shaft trapezoids, base plates, and other parts.

Under the direction of the supervisor and his appointed lead person, operates the CNC Shape cutter machine with oxy-fuel and plasma torches to produce pole shaft trapezoids, base plates, and other parts.
Duties & Responsibilities: - Reads daily workloads to determine what parts and shafts are required, and prioritizes according to constraint and shipping buffers.
- Determines what materials are needed, checks materials on hand, and orders any other materials needed from stores.
- Instructs material handler on what material to load and/or unload, which material to return to stores, how to load table to maximize productivity.
